How does the installation of a stairlift work?
Mounting the stairlift
The stairlift is simply mounted on the stairs at the inner or outer bend, depending on whether this is practical in terms of space usage at the entry and exit points. A stairlift on a straight staircase is very easy and quick to install. A stairlift on stairs with bends obviously takes a little more time, because of the more complex assembly in the bend(s). The rail to which the stairlift is attached must be made to measure the curves and must follow the curve closely, to avoid vibrations during downturns and not to bring danger to the stability of the lift. The installation of a stairlift must therefore always be carried out and checked by a professional installer before the lift can be put into operation.
Many stairlifts use batteries for the drive. These are not visible due to the special design of the stairlift. Sometimes the stairlift requires an electrical connection, in which case the mechanic who is also a trained electrician will work away all cables and all other equipment neatly so that no cables are visible. At the actual installation, the rail is always installed first and then the motor and chair can be put on the rail and tested. The installer will ensure that no rubbish or material remains after installation.
